LOTS OF IMPROVEMENTS IN THE NEW FLEX 2

Product development for us means listening to our users and trying to develop solutions and improvements that bring real benefits to our customers. Many of us are also Iron Horse users ourselves and understand the challenges that a rugged off-road machine faces on a daily basis.

In developing the new Flex 2, we've taken the popular chassis from the current Flex model and made a number of improvements and introduced new features, which you can read about below:

NEW FUNCTIONALITY

RADIO-CONTROLLED HYDRAULIC WINCH

WHAT:
A hydraulic winch driven by a hydraulic pump connected to the primary variator. NOTE Declutchable and with remote control.

WHY:
To minimise the need to run back and forth to the machine when winching timber.

OTHER INFO:
The function is standard for Flex 2.

The decoupling is activated by a mechanical lever on the machine and when starting operation via the remote control, the decoupling is automatically switched off.

COMMUNITYDATA
Traction:900 kg
Winch speed:3 m/s
Wire:Steel, 8 mm, 20 m
Hook:Safety hook, throwing block included
Drift:Hydraulic
Radio control:870 Mhz, range(free) c:a 50 m
Hydraulic motor:50 cc

SUPPORT

GREATER REAR WEIGHT IN THE CHASSIS

WHAT:
A double-weight balance weight at the back of the machine. Designed as a round bar and positioned to facilitate the winching of logs.

WHY:
To avoid the machine "standing on its nose" when it is unloaded and driven downhill or reversed. Also provides better traction when driving.

SUPPORT

FREEZE-PROTECTED ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE CABLES WITH LUBRICATION NIPPLES

WHAT:
Protective plate over the throttle cable attachment to the carburettor to minimise water ingress and custom-made lubrication nipples on both throttle and brake cables for clean blowing and lubrication.

WHY:
Although the wires have solid Teflon inner sheaths, moisture can accumulate and the wires can freeze - the cover plate and grease nipples both prevent and remedy this problem.

SUPPORT

SIMPLIFIED TAPE STRETCHING

WHAT:
Adjustment nuts repositioned for easier access with tools.
Spring washers with indication of correct tension.

WHY:
To make it quicker and easier to tension the drive belts so they don't slip off when driving sideways and to minimise wear.

NEW FUNCTIONALITY

OPENING GUARDRAIL

WHAT:
Protective bar in welded tubular construction that can be individually folded out on both sides of the machine.

WHY:
To facilitate service and maintenance and create more space for storage boxes and other proprietary equipment.

OTHER INFO:
The
sides of the tube archare suspended from the cargo cover and open outwards, forwards. Locked to the front of the machine with heavy duty buckles.

SUPPORT

STEEL DRIVE WHEEL

WHAT:
Steel drive wheels in an open construction instead of plastic .

WHY:
Stronger attachment to the drive axle prevents the drive wheels from turning on the axle, while the open design reduces the risk of mud and snow getting stuck in the wheels and causing unnecessary pressure on the drive belts.

NEW FUNCTIONALITY

CHARGING COIL FOR MOTOR

WHAT:
10 Amp charging coil with rectifier.

WHY:
To charge a battery and power the remote control for the winch, lighting and any electric fuse winch.

OTHER INFO:
Fuse panel feeding with automatic fuses. Space available for additional equipment.

COMMUNITYDATA
Charging coil:10 Amp, 12V, Direct Current
Battery:20AH, 12V, Lead
Fuse panel:4 circuit breakers and automatic fuses (4,6,8 and 10A)

SUPPORT

OPTIMIZED VARIATOR

VAD:
A more optimized and slightly larger variator, easily accessible behind the belt cover.

WHY:
To reduce belt wear and maximise traction throughout the machine's speed range.

SUPPORT

STURDIER HANDLEBARS

WHAT:
The steering lever has been reinforced in two places and has a different and more robust locking of the different driving positions that the lever can be set to.

WHY:
To prevent the steering lever tubes from bending and to simplify the locking of the steering lever position.
